Chapter 1177, The Nine Heavens Flaming Sea
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
The matter of the Supreme Expert Mo Sheng taking on a Disciple was at last settled, with the ceremony set to take place half a year later.
The news spread at a remarkable pace. Carried along with it across the whole of the continent were accounts of Qin Yichen’s identity and his deeds.
A Pill Formula usable by all Races. Origins from a Divine Tier Race. The audacity of facing the siege of thousands of experts entirely alone. Any single one of these would have been enough to set enormous waves crashing through the continent. Together, they left every Race thoroughly shaken.
The Myriad Races were all in an uproar.
…
Then, somewhere on the continent, in a particular region.
The very space there was warped and twisted, with billowing flames surging upward without cease, as though they intended to scorch all of existence into nothingness.
Yet in one corner of that region, the scene was entirely different. There, birdsong mingled with the fragrance of flowers, and the whole place resembled a paradise from the Mortal Realm.
However, should one draw a little closer to look, one would discover, to one’s horror, that everything there, whether flower, grass, bird, or beast, was formed entirely from individual flames.
In the centre of this region stood a breathtaking figure, one that would set the heart and mind reeling.
This figure was clad in a flowing robe of pure white, appearing distinctly at odds with the surrounding scenery.
Yet from her body, there emanated faint, subtle fluctuations that spread outward in all directions. Beneath those fluctuations, ten thousand flames bowed in submission. It seemed as though every flower, grass, bird, and beast existed there solely at her Will.
At this moment, this breathtaking figure had her head bowed. In her slender, jade-like hands, a mass of scorching flame leapt and danced, yet she appeared entirely untroubled by it, her beautiful eyes fixed intently upon that flame.
Within the heart of the fire, there was the faint outline of a handsome face, one she had longed for day and night…
“Junior Sister Qianxue!”
All at once, a clear and melodious voice rang out, shattering the tranquillity of that world. A vivid crimson figure came gliding over from the distance, drifting like a fairy descended from Heaven.
The slender figure gave the faintest jump. The flame between her hands extinguished itself quietly, and that face of transcendent beauty revealed itself. It was none other than Feng Qianxue, the one who had been taken away by an important figure of the Nine Heavens Flaming Sea.
“What are you hiding for? I am not like those old Elders.”
The newcomer was a strikingly beautiful young woman who appeared to be around twenty years of age. Watching the figure’s rather hasty movements, she laughed despite herself.
“Senior Sister Feng Ruo, is something wrong?”
Feng Qianxue lightly swept a hand through her hair and looked at the woman who had come gliding over.
“Junior Sister Qianxue, I heard the Elders mention in passing that you have a sweetheart among the Human Race?” The woman called Feng Ruo laughed lightly.
To this, Feng Qianxue gave no reply. During her time within the Nine Heavens Flaming Sea, she had come to understand the pride that ran through the hearts of the Phoenix Race. They would never permit her to have any romantic entanglement with an outsider. She also did not know whether, if she were to admit it, it would bring any trouble upon Qin Yichen.
“Hehe, Junior Sister Qianxue, what is there to conceal from me?”
Watching Feng Qianxue’s guarded expression, a flicker of something passed through Feng Ruo’s eyes, and then she broke into a bright smile once more and said, “There has been someone stirring up quite the remarkable reputation on the continent recently, bearing the exact same name as your sweetheart.”
“What?” Feng Qianxue’s pupils contracted ever so slightly, and for the first time, a ripple of emotion moved across that stunning face.
“Though it probably is not your sweetheart. Word has it he is the same as us, someone from a Deity Race.”
Feng Ruo smiled.
Though outsiders referred to them as a Divine Tier Race, within the Nine Heavens Flaming Sea, the members of the Phoenix Clan referred to themselves as the Deity Race.
“Deity Race…”
Feng Qianxue murmured quietly to herself, a trace of wistfulness flickering across her expression.
Qin Yichen was nothing more than a member of the Human Race. He was likely still somewhere within Human territory at this very moment. How could he possibly appear out in the continent, and in the guise of a member of the Deity Race, no less?
“Hehe, Junior Sister Qianxue, when the Elders heard of this, they also began discussing sending one or two members out to temper themselves.”
Feng Ruo gave a lazy, languid stretch of her graceful figure, revealing a tantalising silhouette that would cause eyes to go wide.
“Senior Sister Feng Ruo, would I be permitted to go?”
Upon hearing this, a flash of barely-contained excitement passed through Feng Qianxue’s eyes.
“The Elders would likely not agree. After all, you are a treasure of our Race. But you are welcome to try your luck with them yourself.” Feng Ruo smiled, and within that smile was a subtle, faintly complex flicker that the guileless Feng Qianxue did not quite catch.
*
Within the Golden Flame Race, inside a grand and imposing hall of sweeping proportions.
Six figures stood within that hall. At the seat of honour, an elderly man with hair and beard the colour of burnished gold stood with a face like an overcast sky.
From this old man emanated a sense of oppressive force that was no less formidable than Mo Sheng’s own aura, rippling out in muted waves. Clearly, he was the Supreme Expert of the Golden Flame Race.
Beneath that pressure, the five Saints who occupied positions of high standing within the Race dared not even breathe too loudly, each one standing with their head bowed in silence.
“Jin Mi, that blundering fool. Who gave him permission to go and snatch that Pill Formula!?”
After an indeterminate stretch of silence, the old man at the seat of honour finally spoke. He spoke slowly and deliberately, though within his voice there was an anger that could not be concealed.
Jin Mi held no small standing among the younger generation of the Golden Flame Race. Had that not been the case, the Golden Flame Race would never have bestowed upon him the Reincarnating Flame Ghost Staff.
Yet compared to his talent, the trouble he had managed to stir up this time was, without question, far more alarming.
A Divine Tier Race…
The name alone was nearly enough to leave the Golden Flame Race gasping.
Now, Jin Mi’s stupendous act of foolishness has become common knowledge across the entire continent.
Gathering over a thousand experts to ambush and kill a wandering expert from a Divine Tier Race. The sheer jaw-dropping absurdity of such an act sent chills straight through the bones of every member of the Golden Flame Race.
And to make matters worse, Jin Mi was already dead. Even the option of handing him over as an apology was no longer available to them.
Whether that person from a Divine Tier Race intended to pursue the matter, no one could say. But without Qin Yichen having given any indication of his intentions, the Golden Flame Race had already sensed that numerous Forces which bore them ill will were beginning to stir with poorly concealed anticipation.
If obliterating the Golden Flame Race could win the favour of a Divine Tier Race, countless Forces would erase them from the continent without hesitation.
“Ancestor, shall I personally make a trip to Myriad Beasts City and offer that person our apologies?”
From the seat to the left of the old man, a middle-aged man radiating an air of stern authority mulled it over briefly before speaking with gravity.
The moment those words left his mouth, the other four present furrowed their brows.
For this man was none other than the Patriarch of the Golden Flame Race, Jin Yaoya.
It was not that they objected to Jin Yaoya’s conduct. Faced with a Divine Tier Race, even the Patriarch of a Top Tier Race lowering himself was only to be expected.
“It is already too late for that.”
The old man at the seat of honour shook his head, his expression remaining grim. “We have not even gone to settle accounts with them, and that pack of scoundrels is already champing at the bit.”
“The Thunder Beast Race!?”
At those words, the expressions of every person in the hall changed sharply at once.
