Faced with the apology of the figure before him, Qin Yichen did not respond, only watching with a faint, easy smile.

In a place like this, everything came down entirely to strength.

Had Qin Yichen been successfully ambushed earlier, these people would most likely have stripped him bare and tossed his body into the wilderness, with not a single Soul to collect his remains.

And judging by how practised and familiar their scheme had been, this particular gang of ambushers had clearly done this sort of thing more than a few times.

At this moment, the figure before him had evidently realised there was no escaping Qin Yichen’s grasp, and had only now stopped to beg for mercy.

“Sir, I know of a piece of information. I can give it to you, only asking that you spare my life.”

The man was clearly someone who understood how things worked. Catching the half-smile on Qin Yichen’s face, he immediately produced a fawning grin and spoke.

“That depends on whether your information is worth anything.”

Qin Yichen toyed idly with the short dagger in his hand and smiled coolly.

“Sir, rest assured, it will absolutely satisfy you!”

Upon hearing this, the figure seemed to receive a pardon, and hurriedly said, “Sir, have you by any chance heard of Vibrant Vermilion Peak?”

    “Vibrant Vermilion Peak?”

Qin Yichen’s brow furrowed ever so slightly. This was his first visit to the Myriad Beasts Domain, and he knew little about it, including this particular place name, which he had never heard before.

“Vibrant Vermilion Peak lies three thousand kilometres to the west of here. A rare treasure is said to be emerging there in the coming days.”

Seeing the expression on Qin Yichen’s face, the figure hastened to explain.

“Is that so?” Qin Yichen’s brow lifted slightly, his expression clearly conveying considerable scepticism.

“Sir, I have not uttered a single falsehood. At the very summit of Vibrant Vermilion Peak, there is a Saint Realm Demonic Beast guarding a miracle medicine, a Sacred Energy Fruit!”

    “A Sacred Energy Fruit?!”

Upon hearing this, Qin Yichen’s pupils contracted ever so slightly, and even his expression shifted a little.

A Sacred Energy Fruit, said to be a Treasure of Heaven and Earth capable of allowing one to break through to the Saint Realm!

Should Qin Yichen’s strength advance one step further, he would be stepping into the Peak Stage of the Martial Ancestor realm, and if he could obtain the Sacred Energy Fruit, he might borrow its effects to push through once more and enter the Saint Realm in a single bound!

Such a wondrous fruit, Qin Yichen had only ever encountered in ancient records. He had not expected that the moment he entered the Myriad Beasts Domain, fate would already present him with such a thing. It seemed that this Myriad Beasts Domain, though extraordinarily perilous, was an undeniable treasure trove.

“Sir, I, Zhao Henghuang, swear upon my life that this information is absolutely accurate. Moreover, many powerful experts have already set off there, and you must have noticed as much along the way.”

The figure swore earnestly, terrified that Qin Yichen might think he was spinning a tale and take his anger out on him accordingly.

Hearing this, Qin Yichen pondered briefly. Judging by the man’s manner, he did not appear to be lying, and considering how thoroughly terrified of death he seemed to be, he hardly had the nerve to fabricate something like this on the spot.

“Sir, I have already given you the most valuable piece of information I possess. I only hope you will forgive this one’s offence.”

Zhao Henghuang spoke repeatedly to Qin Yichen, wishing desperately to leave, yet afraid that the latter might still strike. From the speed at which he had been pursued, he understood perfectly that he had no hope of escape.

“I shall trust you this once.” Qin Yichen gave a light smile, and before the joy could even reach the man’s face, his next words, cold as winter stone, made that same face change colour entirely. “But, though the death sentence may be waived, a living punishment cannot be avoided.”

    *Whoosh!*

The moment he finished speaking, the hand toying with the short dagger gave a flick, and the blade instantly transformed into a streak of cold light, shooting toward the figure across from him.

    *Thud!*

The streak of cold light struck the man’s right arm, and the terrifying force of impact pinned him firmly to a great tree directly behind him.

At once, without so much as sparing him a glance, Qin Yichen’s figure shot westward in the direction the man had described.

Only long after Qin Yichen had departed did several figures come flying in, and upon seeing the man pinned to the tree, every face changed dramatically.

“Vicious bastard. Once you arrive at Vibrant Vermilion Peak, I’ll make you pay for this!”

After being pulled down from the tree by his companions, Zhao Henghuang’s eyes flickered with a flash of hatred as he muttered under his breath.

    …

Vibrant Vermilion Peak was the largest and most imposing mountain within several thousand kilometres of this entire region.

Its peak soared several thousand meters into the sky, piercing the clouds, with mist swirling about its waist and lending the mountain an air of deep mystery.

At this moment, at the foot of this enormous Vibrant Vermilion Peak, numerous figures were streaming in from all directions one after another, gathering here and fixing eager gazes on the summit above.

That, according to rumour, was precisely where the Sacred Energy Fruit had appeared.

    *Roar!*

As the experts gathered at the foot of the mountain, fierce and savage beast roars began to echo from somewhere on Vibrant Vermilion Peak, carrying within them what sounded unmistakably like a warning.

Clearly, the powerful Demonic Beasts on Vibrant Vermilion Peak had already sensed these uninvited guests.

These Demonic Beasts were unlike the Demonic Beasts in the Silent Forest. Beasts of such calibre possessed considerable intelligence, and naturally understood perfectly well why these experts had come.

Yet the gathered experts at the foot of the mountain paid the roaring warnings little heed.

They knew, of course, that the Demonic Beasts on Vibrant Vermilion Peak were exceedingly troublesome. However, in the face of the Sacred Energy Fruit’s allure, such dangers were insufficient reason for them to abandon their pursuit.

    **Whoosh!* *Whoosh!**

From the distance, streaks of light continued to shoot over at speed, and Qin Yichen arrived among them as well.

“That guy didn’t deceive me after all.” Noticing the nearly one hundred figures gathered at the foot of the mountain, Qin Yichen’s eyes narrowed slightly and he inwardly remarked.

In a place like the Myriad Beasts Domain, outside of certain treasures that required cooperation to obtain, it was exceedingly rare to see so many experts assembling in one place without any great conflict breaking out.

That said, Qin Yichen understood perfectly well that even this brief calm, once the struggle for the treasure began, would be torn to shreds entirely.

And the more people who gathered, the more brutal the struggle would be when that moment arrived!

Even so, before a treasure or rare object revealed itself, such gatherings rarely produced open conflict on the spot. After all, no one wished to drain their own strength or reveal their hand before the fight for the prize had even begun.

“This mountain peak seems a little strange.” Standing at the foot of the mountain and studying the towering peak before him, Qin Yichen keenly sensed something unusual.

Here at the base, the rocks appeared to be a shade of crimson red. Yet peering through the swirling mist encircling the mountain’s waist, one could faintly make out the area above it. It was entirely white, as though blanketed under ice and snow.

The stark contrast between the snow-capped summit and the mountain below it delivered a strikingly dramatic visual impact.
