Chapter 1140, Sealing Victory
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
Within the Summoning Array, Bao Bao spread his wings and surged forth, his body a continuous cascade of thunderous detonations as he unleashed Skill after Skill upon the Bronze Qilin without pause.
More than that, he summoned four Lightning Clouds, hovering directly above the Bronze Qilin’s head, raining down relentless Damage and pinning the creature beneath an unyielding suppression.
When it came to sustained Damage Output, no Dragon in the entire Pet Dragon Dream Team could rival Bao Bao.
Under the crushing weight of Bao Bao’s lightning Skills, the Bronze Qilin could not raise its head. The flames flickering across its body grew ever more vivid, blazing like an iron brand heated to scorching red.
*ROAR!*
At last, driven past the limits of its endurance, the Bronze Qilin forced itself upright against the relentless barrage, and with a violent heave, unleashed a roaring projectile directly at Bao Bao.
This roaring projectile Skill was not new. The Bronze Qilin had used it before, and its power was not to be underestimated.
Yet this time, something was different.
The projectile was threaded through with Lightning Power.
And that Lightning Power bore an unmistakable resemblance to Bao Bao’s own Skills, as though drawn from the same source.
The roaring projectile tore upward through the air, hurtling straight for Bao Bao.
Bao Bao’s reaction was instant. His body dissolved into pure lightning and flickered sideways several thousand metres in the span of a breath, letting the attack pass through nothing but empty sky.
What followed was a string of furious roars from Bao Bao. It was as if mocking, ‘The audacity! How dare you mimic your Father’s Skills!’
Bao Bao clearly took it as a great insult. His rage was clear, his cursing, not so much.
The roaring projectile had, in its passing, shattered all four of the Lightning Clouds Bao Bao had summoned.
Enraged, Bao Bao answered by summoning eight Lightning Clouds! He redoubled his assault on the Bronze Qilin with a Damage Output so ferocious the creature staggered and reeled under each successive impact.
However, that single roaring projectile had interrupted the flow of Bao Bao’s Skill rotation. The seamless suppression he had maintained moments ago was broken, and the Bronze Qilin seized upon that gap.
It twisted and lurched through the air, using that fractional breathing room to evade the majority of attacks from both Bao Bao and the Lightning Clouds.
The flames that had bloomed across its body from the lightning bombardment began to dim. In their place, jagged veins of electricity spread and crawled across its bronze hide like crackling serpents, tracing endless paths across its surface.
Watching from high above, Lu Fan understood at once.
This too was the work of the Slaughter Ancient God’s Ancient God Power.
The Bronze Qilin could absorb an enemy’s Skills and convert a portion of that power for its own use.
Having absorbed Bao Bao’s lightning, the Bronze Qilin had woven the same Lightning Element into its roaring projectile, amplifying its potency.
What was unclear was whether this absorption was temporary or permanent.
If permanent, then the Slaughter Ancient God would be the kind of entity that grew more dangerous with every passing moment of battle.
Lu Fan did not linger on this question. Regardless of how much of Bao Bao’s power the Bronze Qilin managed to absorb or how it might fortify itself, none of it changed the reality that the Bronze Qilin was going to be hunted down.
Lu Fan urged Xiao Ye forward. With his Dragon Spear at the ready, they charged back into the fray.
Xiao Ye opened her maw and breathed forth flames tangled with lava, sealing off the Bronze Qilin’s escape routes.
Lin Dong followed up, throwing up wall after wall of ice, constricting the Bronze Qilin’s range of movement.
The cold was unceasing. Wave after biting wave swept across the battlefield, condensing frost upon the Bronze Qilin’s hide. Each time the creature shook the ice free, new crystals were already forming. It was a slow, grinding attrition that could not be ignored.
Above, the sky itself had become a weapon.
Stars and bolts of lightning rained down in a torrent. It was an unending celestial catastrophe that found the Bronze Qilin wherever it moved, ensuring there was no position on the battlefield free from attack.
And then Lu Fan himself drove in close on Xiao Ye’s back. Dragon Spear in his hands, Xiao Ye’s Dragon Breath, and the Little Blade Armour Dragon King’s chain hooks dancing from his body all converging at once. The Bronze Qilin, for all its power, could not possibly resolve every single attack.
Lu Fan had not even drawn upon his full strength. His Dragons were doing the heavy lifting, and that was already more than enough to grind the Bronze Qilin beneath their combined weight.
With the arrival of Bao Bao and Xing Chen, the Bronze Qilin’s fate was sealed. It could no longer find even a moment’s advantage. Beneath the storm of Lu Fan and his Pet Dragon Dream Team, it was like a small boat in a typhoon.
Retaliation was beyond what it could do.
Its end was merely a matter of time.
The battle played out before the eyes of Ye Wuxian and the others, and every one of them was stunned into silence.
In recent weeks, they had each become Ancient Gods. Their strength had undergone a transformation at the most fundamental level.
They already knew that Lu Fan was extraordinary, that he was far beyond any of them. But after their own power had surged, they had quietly allowed themselves to believe that while they might never surpass him, they could at least contribute something when fighting alongside him. They had told themselves that they would stand by his side and not be left watching his back recede into the distance.
And yet here they were.
Lu Fan remained an existence they could not even begin to approach, not even after becoming Ancient Gods.
And this was not even accounting for everything he had. Ye Sha and Ji Ji had not been deployed. If those two were unleashed as well, the Bronze Qilin would have collapsed by now.
And what Lu Fan had shown here was already beyond their reach.
Against something like the Bronze Qilin, a being that was not a true Ancient God, they could force themselves into the fight if they were determined. But against a true peer of Lu Fan’s level? They would be useless.
It was becoming clear that even among those who became Ancient Gods, Lu Fan’s strength was in a different plane of existence.
The realisation made each woman think and consider that in the road ahead of them, it was far longer than they had allowed themselves to believe.
The fierce battle raged on for half an hour.
The Bronze Qilin’s Ancient God Power remained strong and abundant. Yet in the face of absolute power, it had been driven completely to the losing side. Its body had begun to break apart. Even its Ancient God Power was struggling to sustain its recovery.
There was no avoiding it. Even the most formidable recovery ability had its ceiling. Under Lu Fan’s violent offensive, even a being as potent as one of the Seven Stars of Slaughter could no longer hold together.
And Lu Fan had not even deployed a single high tier Skill from beginning to end. His pure Combat Power alone had dragged the Bronze Qilin into a depth from which there was no climbing back from.
At last, Lu Fan thrust his spear forward.
Dragon Fang Strike detonated at full power. The spear-tip drove deep into the Bronze Qilin’s body.
That bronze body had once seemed indestructible. But the accumulated barrage of unceasing attacks had long since riddled it with Damage that never had the chance to heal. To the naked eye, it still appeared whole and hard, but upon closer look, one would see the truth. The Bronze Qilin’s hide was already laced with hairline fractures, dense as porcelain and was about to shatter.
Lu Fan had attacked faster than the Bronze Qilin could recover, wounding it again and again before any prior injury had truly closed. Outwardly, it still looked the same, but inwardly, it was nothing but concealed ruin.
So it was that Lu Fan’s spear slid in with almost no resistance, and the full force of Dragon Fang Strike was unleashed.
