Chapter 1198, Allies

“And yet, here you all are. Maybe you can truly help us.” The Bronze Dragon King’s voice lightened somewhat, and towards Lu Fan and his companions she seemed to feel an extraordinary measure of trust.
“If you can provide us with a method to kill the Desolate Ancient God and lend us your aid, the crisis facing the Dragon Domain should be resolved. Oh, yeah. This is our first meeting, but I got too excited that I have been going on, rambling over here. You don’t mind, right?”
Lu Fan smiled to himself upon hearing this, reflecting that the Bronze Dragon King did indeed have quite a lot to say. However, this was also a reflection of her character, bright and outgoing. She was a Giant Dragon that was easy to get along with.
He had originally half-expected that what the Flame Dragon had said was right, that Combat Specialised Dragon Species such as the Flame Dragons and Bronze Dragons tended to have rather rough temperaments. He expected that since his own party was barging into the Dragon Domain, they would likely be subjected to a thorough interrogation, making it difficult to earn the other party’s trust.
It had never occurred to him that this Bronze Dragon King would be so easy to deal with. This had already resolved the better half of Lu Fan’s concerns.
Ouyang Bai Ge, however, had her doubts, and took the initiative to raise them.
“Zhan Chui, if you do not mind my asking, why is it that you trust us so readily? Do you not suspect that we and the Desolate Ancient God to be allies, and that us coming to the Dragon Domain is itself a scheme of some kind? I would imagine that with your strength, even without us saying so, you would be able to sense that we share the same aura as the Desolate Ancient God. That we are all Ancient Gods, no?”
The Bronze Dragon King nodded. “I did indeed sense that you carry the same scent as the Desolate Ancient God. I do believe you all belong to the same category of that being. So when I first sensed your presence, my initial reaction was that the Dragon Domain had yet another new enemy.”
“One Desolate Ancient God was already giving our Dragon Domain such a headache, and then came this many more Ancient Gods. If I am being honest, my first instinct was to come out of my castle and slaughter all of you. But very quickly, I perceived that the situation was not quite what I had imagined. Because alongside you were two Giant Dragons, and moreover, they were Giant Dragons from the Valley of Life.”
“You should know well enough that the Giant Dragons of the Valley of Life are not quite like ordinary Giant Dragons. They are all Rootless Dragons. This distinction is something I can sense with ease. I was already aware of the fall of the Valley of Life. In fact, to see Rootless Dragons still existing in this world was quite unexpected, and if they are in your company, then you could not possibly be my enemies.”
“After all, the Valley of Life was destroyed by the Desolate Ancient God. If you and the Desolate Ancient God were truly allies, then the Valley of Life’s Giant Dragons would never be on such amicable terms with you. With our temperament, even if they were to be killed by you, they would still fight to the last, against the enemies who had destroyed their home. So, from that point on, I knew you were most likely not my enemies.”
“Still, you carried the same aura as the Desolate Ancient God, which meant you should know it well enough, and know the method of killing it. Very quickly, I realised that the Dragon Domain may just be fortunate enough to receive its saviours, and with your help, the Dragon Domain’s crisis should be resolved.”
Lu Fan let out a short laugh upon hearing all of this. “Wow. You truly are bold and sharp. To arrive at such a conclusion so quickly.”
Beside him, the Flame Dragon scratched his head and grinned. “Your analysis is spot on. Brother Lu here may share something in common with that Desolate Ancient God, being an Ancient God himself, but the two are of an entirely different nature. Lu Fan was originally Human. After learning of the Ancient Gods’ existence, he resolved to become an Ancient God himself, precisely in order to strike them down.”
With that, the Flame Dragon relayed to the Bronze Dragon King everything regarding the Ancient Gods.
The existence of the Ancient Gods, their purpose of destroying each era, was something the Flame Dragon and his companions had long since been told by Lu Fan. After all, their home had been destroyed by an Ancient God, so it was only natural to let them know what purpose the destruction of the Valley of Life had served.
And so, even the Flame Dragon’s understanding of the Ancient Gods far surpassed that of the Bronze Dragon King.
Upon hearing the Flame Dragon’s account, both the Bronze Dragon King and the Bronze Dragons present formed a basic understanding of what Ancient Gods were.
The Bronze Dragon King was genuinely shaken, though she maintained composed.
The other Bronze Dragons, meanwhile, fell to murmuring amongst themselves, struggling to comprehend that the era in which they lived had been created by such a kind of existence, and that the appearance of their own Race was merely the product of the World Principles laid down by that existence.
Giant Dragons had never believed in Gods. They knew well that so-called Gods were simply powerful beings. And their own strength was no less than that of any God.
Had they wished to, they could have left the Dragon Domain entirely and taken up the role of a God on some Map.
But Ancient Gods, to them, were truly like creators, and this shook their understanding of the world to its very foundations.
“So there truly are creators of this world after all. And to think they look like something this revolting.” The Bronze Dragon King expressed this sentiment, shook her head, and smiled. “But then again, what of it? I do not care whether my own existence sprang from the hands of these so-called Ancient Gods. The fact is that we exist, and that gives us every right to continue living. To attempt to erase us, heh! Like it will be that simple!”
Lu Fan nodded. “Exactly. This so-called Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy is nothing but a farce. There are untold billions upon billions of living beings in the world today, by what right should they all perish because of this so-called Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy? Why must we drive this entire era to its destruction? We may be living beings who exist beneath the World Principles laid down by the Ancient Gods, but we too have every right to keep on living! So, with that as our goal, we have become Ancient Gods ourselves, and we intend to strike down every last Ancient God and bring this so-called Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy to a permanent end.”
The Bronze Dragon King nodded. “Of course. I have no great demands in life. To live well here in the Dragon Domain, and to die of old age in my own time, that is all I ask. From the sound of it, other than this Desolate Ancient God, there are quite a few others that will need to be dealt with, one by one. In that case, if you ever need us, you are welcome to return to the Dragon Domain at any time. We of the Giant Dragon Clan will do whatever we can to help you.”
“Then I offer my thanks in advance.” Lu Fan smiled to himself, thinking that he had never imagined his journey to the Dragon Domain would end with him gaining several extraordinarily powerful allies.
