Chapter 1206, The Power of a Single Punch
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
“We are already that close?” The Flame Dragon was mildly taken aback. “But we are still quite some distance away from the entrance of the Valley of Life…”
The Two Headed Dragon considered for a moment, then added, “The Desolate Ancient God does not need to remain within the Valley of Life at all times. It may have thought that leaving the Valley of Life would allow it to venture out more in various directions. It could scout for openings in the defence line, where it might continue to spread, and devouring more Giant Dragons or encroaching on other Maps. The Bronze Dragon King did mention previously that several smaller Dragon Clans in the area surrounding the Valley of Life had already been consumed by it, right? In that case, its current range of activity is no longer limited to within the Valley of Life.”
“Make sense.” The Flame Dragon nodded in ready agreement.
Ouyang Bai Ge said, “We cannot tell the reason just by guessing. There may be some truth to what the Two Headed Dragon just said. In any case, everyone needs to take care. That is always the wisest approach. The path ahead will likely make us face more than those corrupted Monsters and Dragon Carcasses. We may actually come face to face with the True Body of the Desolate Ancient God. Its strength is on an entirely different level from any Dragon Carcass, so everyone needs to remain vigilant and be prepared for battle at all times.”
“Understood.” The group nodded in unanimous agreement.
The Bronze Dragon King thought it over, then stepped forward a couple of paces and said, “Why not let me lead the way from here on out. Out of everyone here, I am the one who least fears a surprise attack. Our Bronze Dragon Clan may not have the absurd toughness of the Golden Dragon Clan, but those suited for close combat naturally possess the physical constitution that ranks among the top three of all Dragon Species. So, if anything were to happen, I would be perfectly capable of protecting everyone.”
With that, she took the lead without ceremony, pressing ahead to clear the path.
The Shadow Dragon King cast a sideways glance at her, his expression carrying a faint note of disapproval, as though reproaching her for putting herself forward and placing herself at risk.
Even so, the Shadow Dragon King said nothing, and after a beat, stepped forward as well, positioning himself not far behind the Bronze Dragon King, clearly intending to keep close watch over his Wife at all times.
The two of them, so clearly devoted to one another, drew quiet smiles from the rest of the group.
Ye Wuxian in particular found herself glancing toward Lu Fan without meaning to.
When Lu Fan happened to catch her doing this, she would hastily turn away, a faint flush rising in her cheeks, not daring to meet his eyes again.
And yet, a little while later, she could not resist sending another glance in his direction.
That quiet, fledgling warmth drifted amongst the group as they pressed onward, though with considerably more caution than at the start.
Before long, another Dragon Carcass emerged.
The Two Headed Dragon had every intention of charging forward once again to deal with it on his own.
For one thing, these Dragon Carcasses may well have been his kin, and he wished to be the one to personally send them off.
For another, he wanted to do his part, so that Lu Fan and the Bronze Dragon King would not need to exhaust themselves on his behalf.
No one contended with him over this. They let him step up and fight.
This time, however, the Dragon Carcass that appeared was not alone.
Perhaps because they were indeed drawing closer to the Desolate Ancient God, the Dragon Carcasses that emerged this time numbered no fewer than five.
Five Dragon Carcasses rose one after another from the rotten mud surrounding the group. The Two Headed Dragon and the Flame Dragon each selected the first two to appear as their respective opponents, but three Dragon Carcasses still remained unchecked, closing in to encircle Lu Fan and the others.
This was no longer the time to be leaving Dragon Carcasses to the Flame Dragon and the Two Headed Dragon.
The Dragon Carcasses, formidable as they were, were still not actual Giant Dragons. The Two Headed Dragon and the Flame Dragon were more than capable of dealing with their opponents, but dealing with them would still take time.
One could not expect everyone to simply stand there with their hands behind their backs during that time, waiting to be attacked without putting up any resistance.
Lu Fan understood perfectly that the moment for leaving everything to the Two Headed Dragon had passed.
He drew Refined Undefiled and prepared to summon his Pet Dragon, intending to launch an offensive against the surrounding Dragon Carcasses.
At that moment, however, the Bronze Dragon King suddenly spoke up. “No need to go through all that trouble. Just leave them to me.”
With that, she walked forward, as though the three Dragon Carcasses raising their bodies into attack postures ahead were no more than empty air. They seemed completely incapable of posing any threat to her whatsoever.
Lu Fan blinked, mildly surprised, then stood down without protest.
For one thing, one Dragon Carcass could not even defeat the Flame Dragon, which made it abundantly clear that it was not going to be the Bronze Dragon King’s opponent. Leaving the enemies to her was not an issue.
For another thing, Lu Fan genuinely wanted to watch. He wanted to see with his own eyes just how terrifying an Eternal Phase Dragon King truly was.
Though the Devouring Dragon King was also an Eternal Phase Dragon specialising in combat, the Devouring Dragon King was not quite the same as the typical Combat Specialised Giant Dragon.
Compared to the Bronze Dragon King, the Devouring Dragon King was still a notch lower. She simply had not yet consumed enough Giant Dragons to fully awaken the full potential of the Dragon Bloodline Power within her.
The Bronze Dragon King showed no inclination to transform into her Giant Dragon Form. She simply walked forward, step by step, in a way that left everyone thoroughly puzzled as to what exactly she intended to do.
The Dragon Carcass she had set her sights on did not appear to sense any threat whatsoever. Seeing an opponent approaching it steadily, it felt not the slightest flicker of fear, and launched its own charge to meet her.
*Crash!* One wing-beat, and the enormous body launched itself skyward, hurtling straight toward the Bronze Dragon King.
A body that vast, moving at a speed that alarming, was terrifying even if the Dragon Carcass did nothing else. The sheer force of that single collision alone would have produced catastrophic Damage.
The Bronze Dragon King watched it come and finally moved.
She drew her hand into a fist, fixed her gaze on the Dragon Carcass flying toward her, and then, with an air of someone swatting away a mildly bothersome fly, threw a single punch.
*Boom!*
A deafening explosion rang out. The air blazed with a brilliant flash, twisting and warping around the point of impact.
The distortion surged outward like a cannonball and slammed squarely into the Dragon Carcass’s body.
Without a single moment’s hesitation, the Dragon Carcass blew up in midair.
The mud that had clung to its body was blown outward by the lingering force of that single punch, scattering into the distance like a burst of festive fireworks. Still, not a single drop of it landed on Lu Fan and the others.
This was rather fortunate. Having that much of that rotten mud come raining down on one like a sudden thunderstorm was not a pleasant thing to think about, much less experience.
Having dispatched one Dragon Carcass with a single punch, the Bronze Dragon King was turning to deal with the remaining two on the spot.
The Shadow Dragon King, however, was faster. Two sharp swings of his arm, in quick succession.
Two Shadow Wind Blades appeared, drifting outward in utter silence, passing clean through the bodies of the two Dragon Carcasses without a sound.
