“Ha ha!” The Fallen Corpse Ancient God burst out laughing the moment he heard this. “Knowing you as well as I do, this is exactly the sort of thing you would do. Though, even if you were to keep your eye on me every single era, I wouldn’t find it particularly alarming. After all, each era, you and I would inevitably come to blows at least once. If you dare come looking for me, I’ll simply kill you. That’s all.”

“But I can give you my word, in this matter, I will absolutely not deceive you. After all, the Holy Mountain Ancient God and the Desolate Ancient God are no pushovers. Rather than be suppressed by those two working in tandem for several eras, I would far prefer that dealing with fellow Ancient Gods like you, carry on as before and engage me in a proper Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy, where every man stands for himself.”

“If we’re each fighting for ourselves, I genuinely do not believe there is anyone who can wrest the Ancient God seat from my hands!”

“Who says there isn’t?” The Slaughter Ancient God let out a cold laugh. “I will most certainly, in some era or another, cut you down and once again ascend to the position of God King!”

“Is that so? Then I truly look forward to that day!” Those were the words the Fallen Corpse Ancient God spoke, yet the undisguised doubt in his tone left the Slaughter Ancient God particularly irked.

The latter let out a cold snort and said, “Since you and I have now formally established our alliance, what do we do next?”

He paused, a vicious gleam flickering in his eyes. “I actually have a thought, one that could considerably improve our odds of victory.”

“Those few New Gods who came just now attempting to seize my Divine Seat, they may not be particularly strong, but they are all Ancient Gods. If we could kill every last one of them, raising your and my degree of awakening further, our strength would surely surpass that of the Desolate Ancient God and Holy Mountain Ancient God. Then, once we’ve killed those two Ancient Gods as well, there should be no one left in this era capable of matching you and me, wouldn’t you say?”

“Once that happens, the God King seat of this era would inevitably fall into our hands.”

“Ha ha,” the Fallen Corpse Ancient God chuckled upon hearing this. “Kill those few New Gods? When you made this suggestion, was your mind not entirely consumed with thoughts of revenge?”

“The mighty Slaughter Ancient God, nearly struck down by a handful of New Gods. If word of that were to spread, the other Ancient Gods would certainly mock you for it. You harbouring rage and wishing to vent it upon them is perfectly understandable.”

These words sent the Slaughter Ancient God’s fury blazing. He immediately replied in an icy voice, “*Hmph!* That was only because they took advantage of my Ancient God Power not having fully awakened and launched a sneak attack. That is why I suffered that loss. Were I at my peak, what would those few New Gods even amount to!?”

“Actually, they are quite formidable.” The Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s tone grew considerably more serious, shedding the sarcasm and mockery. “Especially that new Abyssal Ancient God. I have crossed blades with him before. There was a moment when I nearly killed him, yet in the end he slipped through my grasp.”

“What his Combat Power was like at that time, I understand better than anyone. For someone with that meagre Ancient God Power density back then to display that kind of combat strength was already astonishing enough. And now, his strength has advanced by leaps and bounds, to the point where he can gravely wound even you, and nearly cut you down.”

“That rate of progress is, in all honesty, rather startling.”

“He’s impressive, sure, but isn’t that all just down to his Pet Dragons?” At the mention of having nearly been slain, the Slaughter Ancient God was full of resentment.

“For this matter, the blame must largely rest with you. The Principles of this world were created by you. In short, the Giant Dragons are products created under the World Principles you have created. Them being this powerful, you must bear the primary responsibility for it.”

“Fortunately, this era is already in its final stages, and we Ancient Gods shall awaken in succession, wiping out all living creatures of the entire era. Otherwise, I would genuinely fear that in another few hundred thousand years, these creatures called Giant Dragons would surpass us Ancient Gods in power. When that time comes, us Ancient Gods would only serve as their feed. We would be unable to turn the era. Once that happens, this world would be thrown into complete and utter chaos!”

These words concluded, and the Fallen Corpse Ancient God fell silent. He said nothing.

Seeing this, the Slaughter Ancient God swept his great tail and struck the bronze coffin with a heavy *thus*.

Yet the bronze coffin was extraordinarily thick and heavy. Upon being struck, it merely produced a dull, muffled sound and did not so much as sway, let alone get sent flying.

The Slaughter Ancient God silently marvelled at how solid the coffin the Fallen Corpse Ancient God had built for himself truly was. Heaven only knew how many precious materials from previous eras had been expended in its construction.

“Why have you gone quiet? Could it be you know that the world you created has many flaws and inconsistencies, and you feel you are not worthy of being the God King?”

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God still said nothing.

Knowing that the Slaughter Ancient God was growing a little impatient, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God finally spoke in a grave, cold voice. “Listen carefully. The Giant Dragons, as a species, are not creatures of my era.”

“What!?” The Slaughter Ancient God was immediately struck with alarm.

Then he continued, “If not a product of your era, then surely a product of the previous era? I lived through the World Principles of the last era as well. I participated in the purging campaign of the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy, and yet I never once encountered a creature called Giant Dragon. Besides, in every Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy, apart from us Ancient Gods, not a single creature has ever survived into the next era. You and I both know this perfectly well. Giant Dragons can only possibly be a product of the world you have created.”

The Fallen Corpse Ancient God said, “And that is precisely where the problem lies.”

“When I last crossed blades with the new Abyssal Ancient God, I was already astonished by the power of these Giant Dragons, which far exceeded my estimations of this world. So when I returned, I spent some time deducing it, to see exactly how their species came to be from the World Principles I created.”

“And what I found was that Pure Blood Giant Dragons could not have taken shape under the rules of this world. By the framework of the Principles I constructed, at most, existences of the level of Earth Dragons or Flying Dragons could appear. Creatures like a Pure Blood Giant Dragon simply should not exist.”

“What I fear most is for existences that I cannot control to emerge from the world I created. Therefore, I set a shackle on the upper limit of power for the creatures of this world. Yet, Giant Dragons have clearly broken free from that shackle. They do not resemble a product of my world.”

The Slaughter Ancient God let out a dry laugh or two. “How terribly amusing. You cannot even bring yourself to acknowledge the things you have created? I truly cannot fathom what you are saying. If Giant Dragons do not exist because as a result of your doing, how could they possibly have appeared in this era?”

“That is the question I too have been pondering over.” The Fallen Corpse Ancient God spoke in a low, measured voice. “Tell me, do you truly believe that Ancient Gods such as you and I are the true masters of this world?”
