Chapter 1145, A Fighting Style That Gambles Everything
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
“I also intend to use my own Ancient God Power against these two Jiang Family Mountain Gods. Teacher Ouyang, save yours. Don’t waste it opening a Void World.”
Ouyang Bai Ge reflected for a moment, then gave a single nod of agreement.
Lu Fan’s intent shifted. The Abyssal Node expanded, drawing everyone inside, Lu Fan himself included.
In the same instant of their disappearance, he made a Projection of himself in the real world, leaving it to continue the battle with the Jiang Family Mountain Gods.
Inside the Abyssal Space, an expanse of pure, undifferentiated void, the group could observe the outside world through what appeared to be a mirror-like luminous screen, in which every detail was rendered with perfect clarity.
Lu Fan positioned the Abyssal Node high in the air, well beyond the reach of either Mountain God’s attacks, ensuring its safety.
Then, he turned his full attention to directing his Projection in combat against the two opponents.
This time, he held nothing back.
Every Pet Dragon was summoned and unleashed simultaneously. This was his full offensive capacity, converging on both Jiang Family Mountain Gods from every angle.
The assault was overwhelming. Through the coordinated firepower of multiple Pet Dragons and the relentless pressure of his Skills, Lu Fan’s Projection pressed both Jiang Family Mountain Gods into a state of suppression they could not escape from.
Yet the Jiang Family Mountain Gods were not passively taking the hits. With their Slaughter Hearts ignited, their regenerative capability exceeded even that of the Bronze Qilin. It was truly absurd. Half of one’s body could be shattered by Ye Sha’s assault and reform within moments, and the restoration appeared as though no Damage had been dealt at all.
With their vitality effectively infinite, the Mountain Gods simply continued swinging vines, cycling through their Skills, returning fire against Lu Fan’s Projection and his Pet Dragons without pause. The Map beneath had already been reduced to ruin. Now what remained was being destroyed further.
Observing how little sustained Damage was accumulating, Lu Fan adjusted his approach.
Three additional Projections entered the battlefield.
Four Lu Fans, each with their own array of Pet Dragons, now converged on the two Mountain Gods simultaneously. The sense of suffocating pressure was immediate.
Each Mountain God found itself contending with two Projections. Even with their Combat Power further elevated, two Lu Fans was a load neither could match.
But the Jiang Family Mountain Gods’ vitality remained an obstacle. Even surrounded and struck from multiple angles by two Projections each, they endured. They continued regenerating steadily from each wave of punishing attacks, displaying a resilience that bordered on the absurd.
Lu Fan’s patience wore thin.
And he had also taken note of something: for all its power, the Jiang Family Mountain God’s intellect was not all that impressive. Even facing four identical opponents, it had not paused once to question the anomaly. It simply attacked, seemingly on instinct, driving toward the objective of eliminating his Projections with single-mindedness.
Given that, there was no reason for further restraint.
He commanded all four Projections to abandon all defence.
Trade every hit. Accept every wound. Inflict Damage at the cost of receiving it in kind. The Projections’ survival was not the objective. The destruction of the Jiang Family Mountain Gods was.
Under this brutal, sacrifice-driven approach, the momentum finally began to shift. The Jiang Family Mountain Gods absorbed Damage at a rate that began to outpace even their extraordinary regeneration. The Ancient God Power within them, which had seemed boundless, was visibly depleting.
The price was steep though. Two of the Projections were destroyed, obliterated by the Mountain Gods’ Skills.
Lu Fan felt no particular concern about that. He immediately summoned two more.
In the end, after five Projections in total had been killed and replaced across the course of the battle, both Jiang Family Mountain Gods finally reached their limit.
Against the reckless, sacrificial ferocity of Lu Fan’s Projections, their Ancient God Power drained at a rate that could only be described as a collapsing floodwall. It was a torrent that should have sustained them through days of continuous combat had been burned through in just over three hours.
One after the other, both Jiang Family Mountain Gods fell. Stripped of what had sustained them, they reverted to lifeless stumps. Then those stumps crashed to the ground.
Golden light swept across every member of the group in rapid succession. Vast amounts of Experience Points flooded into them, and their Levels rose.
Lu Fan, who had effectively Soloed the Jiang Family Mountain Gods, claimed the largest share. The accumulated Experience Points pushed him up 3 Levels again, and his Attributes climbed accordingly.
With the Jiang Family Mountain Gods down and their Rewards shimmering on the ground, Lu Fan released everyone from the Abyssal Space and went to examine what the Jiang Family Mountain Gods had dropped.
Two Mountain Gods meant double the Rewards. In short, six items in total.
As the one who had basically Soloed them, Lu Fan took responsibility for opening and distributing the Rewards.
The first item was a Legendary Grade shield, called Endless Life. It appeared to be made from wood, and it was light when on one’s hand. But its structural integrity was no less than that of any metal shield, and a knock against its surface produced a resonant, metallic tone.
Its Attributes were exceptional. But more useful still was its Special Effect. Channelling Water Element Buff Skills into it would cause its Attributes to scale upward, with an upper ceiling that was, by any standard, extraordinary.
This might as well have been crafted for Tao Xiaoman specifically. As an Imperial Ice Sword God, every Skill in her arsenal was of the Water Element. She could thus stack this shield’s Attributes to a staggering degree without any effort.
Even without merging with Jian Ying and the others to form the Golden Asura King, she would be able to hold her own in terms of Combat Power with this shield equipped.
And with it incorporated into the Golden Asura King, its overall strength would rise even higher.
Tao Xiaoman received the shield with barely concealed delight.
Though Lu Fan moved on before she could say anything.
The next two items were both Epic Grade. They were decent in the normal world, but unremarkable given the company.
In the outside world, Epic Grade equipment would command reverence. When Ye Wuxian’s spear had appeared at auction, it had sat unchallenged at the top of the rankings, and that weapon was an Epic Grade staff. These two items individually eclipsed what that staff had been at the time, and bringing either to an auction house would generate no small amount of commotion.
But by the standards of those now standing here, Epic Grade was close to indistinguishable from ordinary equipment.
Neither item fitted anyone in the group particularly well. Lu Fan stored them both in his Inventory for later, to be kept in the Ye Family and offered as rewards to its members in the future.
The fourth item was an old acquaintance: a Slaughter Heart.
This one, however, had fused with the Jiang Family Mountain God during the creature’s existence, and that fusion had altered its properties.
Upon activation, it would manifest as a vine that reached all the way into the Second World of the Sacred Jiang Family, which seems to correspond to the floating island suspended above them.
Lu Fan set the Slaughter Heart aside for the moment and opened the remaining two.
Both were Legendary Grade. Their Attributes aligned well with the Profession Characteristics of Ye Wuxian and Jian Ying respectively.
Lu Fan passed both directly to the two women. Equipped, the items provided an immediate lift to their Attributes and Combat Power.
With the Rewards fully distributed, Lu Fan finally turned back to the Slaughter Heart and activated it.
