Chapter 1100, The Void World

“That’s it!” Ouyang Bai Ge affirmed and praised Han Ke’s technique, then narrowed her eyes and pressed a single fingertip lightly to the crown of the nine-headed serpent statue.

 

In the next instant, a faint wisp of Purple Gas stirred where the two made contact, then coalesced into a small Array of indeterminate purpose.

 

Before long, the small Array took full shape.

 

While maintaining the Array, Ouyang Bai Ge looked towards Lu Fan and the others. “I have now deduced its location through that trace of energy left behind by the Slaughter Ancient God. At the same time, I have used my own Ancient God Power to sketch out a passage between myself and the other party. This is a passage through another world. Through this passage, one may travel via my Void World and arrive directly at the location where the other party currently resides.”

 

She paused, then continued. “This passage has already been established, but someone must pass through it to find the exact coordinates of where the Slaughter Ancient God is located. This is extremely dangerous. The Slaughter Ancient God is a dangerous entity. Were someone to suddenly appear at his side, there is a very real risk of being torn to pieces in an instant. So, who among you is willing to step through this passage and go and check on the Slaughter Ancient God’s position?”

 

Jian Ying and the others exchanged glances. In the end, it was Jian Ying who spoke first. “Teacher Ouyang, can your Transport Array send three people through at once? If it’s the three of us, combining our Ancient God Power along with this special metal, we can form the Asura King. Its defensive power is extraordinary. Even if we were to encounter the Slaughter Ancient God, we should have the means to preserve ourselves. So, we’re probably the most suited among those here to go and find the Slaughter Ancient God.”

 

Before Ouyang Bai Ge could respond, Lu Fan had already waved his hand. “You three!? You’d best forget about it. Even with the Asura King protecting you all, you’d likely be in serious danger.”

 

“The Slaughter Ancient God is a High Tier Ancient God. This is completely different from the enemies you’ve faced before. Your Asura King might do well enough against ordinary opponents, but against an Ancient God, I fear you three wouldn’t be enough.”

 

Then he turned to Ouyang Bai Ge. “Teacher Ouyang, why not send me through it instead? Among everyone here, I obtained my Divine Seat the earliest, and my grasp of Ancient God Power is far better than them. I am also the strongest in terms of raw power among all of us. Ouyang Bai Ge considered this and conceded with a nod. “That’s fair. You could just make Projections. It is indeed the ideal choice for reconnaissance.”

 

“In that case, use your own Ancient God Power and go to take a look at the situation.”

 

With that, Ouyang Bai Ge raised her hand in a sweep, and the Purple Gas wreathing her palm expanded into a Transport Array of modest size.

 

As the Transport Array opened, the scene at the other end was laid bare before everyone present.

 

Through the Transport Array’s far side stretched a world of a truly bizarre, unsettling strangeness. The sky and the ground both suffused in a purplish-black haze, while an innumerable variety of strange, crawling insect-like creatures moved ceaselessly across every part of this world.

 

Among these insects, the smallest were no larger than a fingernail, bodies encased in purplish-black carapaces, resembling cockroaches, or perhaps some variety of beetle.

 

The largest, however, were the size of buildings.

 

They spread fleshy wings and sailed through the sky, and each time they swept past, a gale of fierce wind was sent churning in their wake.

 

Such a multitude of insect Monsters made every woman present feel her scalp crawl, colour of their faces visibly changing.

 

Though they were all Players who had killed far worse, faced Monsters more fearsome, more repulsive than mere insects, but by their very nature, no one enjoys dealing with such creatures.

 

Seeing the wariness of everyone present towards the space she had opened, Ouyang Bai Ge smiled and offered an explanation. “This is my Ancient God Power. It is the ability to open a world called the Void World. This world overlaps with and is formed atop of the real world. It is kind of like a parallel space. In that respect, it bears some resemblance to Lu Fan’s Ancient God Power, though it differs in key ways.”

 

“You might understand it as such: my Void World is a world built upon the original real world. I can step into it at will, and I can return from it to the real world whenever I choose. I have already set waypoints marking the route to where the Slaughter Ancient God is located. You only need to enter the Void World, follow the waypoints, and reach the Transport Array at the far end. Once there, activate it, and pass through. You’ll soon find the Slaughter Ancient God.”

 

“Within my Void World, there are many Void Creatures, and every one of them is immensely powerful. But do not worry. I will leave a mark on your body. The Void Creatures will not attack you of their own accord.”

 

Lu Fan nodded. “Understood.”

 

“Then, Teacher Ouyang, shall we set out now?”

 

“No problem.” Ouyang Bai Ge nodded, then swept her hand once more, and a tendril of Purple Gas rose from the entrance, drifting and winding as it snaked away towards the far-distant end.

 

Lu Fan also deployed his own Ancient God Power, replicating Projection identical to himself in every detail.

 

Then, controlling the Projection to summon Ye Sha, the two, Man and Dragon, set off together, following the direction marked by the Purple Gas.

 

Once his projection had departed, Lu Fan looked towards Ouyang Bai Ge and asked, “Teacher Ouyang, how far away is the Slaughter Ancient God’s location?”

 

“This world is vast beyond measure. Even if Ye Sha is a Dragon known for his Agility, if the distance were tens of thousands of kilometres away, it would still take a very long time to fly across.”

 

As he spoke, Lu Fan’s eyes drifted to Ouyang Bai Ge, who was still maintaining the Void Transport Gateway. With a sharp, perceptive eye, he noted that the rate at which her stamina was being consumed was extremely swift.

 

Though Ouyang Bai Ge was the master of the Void World, it made sense that bridging two worlds demanded no small expenditure of her strength.

 

Ouyang Bai Ge smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry. The Void World and the real world are not mapped one-to-one. They exist in an order that is fluid and unstructured, one that I myself can manipulate. For example, a distance of ten thousand kilometres in the real world can, by layering and stacking through the Void World, be compressed to roughly one thousand kilometres of travel within the Void World.”

 

“Still, the Slaughter Ancient God’s location is indeed quite far from us, but your Projection should arrive at the destination before long.”
