Chapter 1181, The New Shadow Isle
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
Lu Fan had never imagined that amongst Ouyang Bai Ge’s Void Insects, there was actually a species capable of biting through space itself and peeling it away entirely.
After everyone had departed from the Jiang Family Sacred Land, Ouyang Bai Ge made use of these Void Insects to carve the entire Secret Realm away from its original position, rendering it freely moveable.
Lu Fan, in his capacity as Territory Master, opened the Transport Array leading to Shadow Isle, and with Ouyang Bai Ge’s assistance, successfully relocated the Jiang Family Sacred Land to the space above Shadow Isle.
The Void Insects then thoroughly punctured the Secret Realm’s barriers, whereupon the Jiang Family Sacred Land spread itself flat across the sky above Shadow Isle, transforming into four suspended floating islands.
Jian Ying and the others thought it over and decided to make use of their Ancient God Power, constructing stone paths around all four Sacred Islands, creating winding mountain roads that could be climbed.
By following these winding earthen paths, even Players without any flight items or Skills could ascend to the higher Sacred Islands.
Though these stairways served no particularly practical purpose, they at least connected Shadow Isle and the islands into a single unified whole.
And so, the islands were considered to have thoroughly become a part of Shadow Isle at last.
Han Ke, upon seeing all of this, was naturally quite delighted, and began secretly planning that once Lu Fan had children in the future, the little ones could come here to do some Levelling Up.
In the beginning, the first island would do nicely for some early training.
Once their Levels were high enough, whether proceeding to the second island or returning to Shadow Isle, both would be perfectly fine Levelling options.
As for the foot of the third island’s mountains, it was packed with the resources of the Sacred Jiang Family, resources that could be freely utilised, equivalent to an enormous treasure trove.
As for the fourth island, which was already on the verge of collapse, that was where the Slaughter Ancient God’s altar had stood. After that massive battle, it had been reduced to an utter ruin with nothing of any particular value.
That said, the place could barely serve as a sort of ‘storage room’, where anything unwanted could simply be piled up.
Or alternatively, it could be properly repaired and used as a dedicated arena for combat and sparring.
One imagined that with the Sacred Jiang Family’s foundation being so tremendously rich, finding materials on the third island to repair the altar ought to be no problem whatsoever.
As for who would do the repairing, that was simple enough, either the Ye Family’s people or the Situ Family’s people, either would do perfectly well.
Watching Han Ke cheer up and begin planning out the new Shadow Isle with great enthusiasm, even going so far as to think about how his children, once born, would Level Up here, Lu Fan found himself torn between laughter and tears.
Everyone else was likewise infected by Han Ke’s optimistic spirit, and the frustration that had arisen from the Slaughter Ancient God being taken away by the Fallen Corpse Ancient God dissipated considerably.
That said, the Slaughter Ancient God not having his Divine Seat stripped, but instead being taken away by a dangerous existence such as the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, was in itself an extremely troublesome matter.
Everyone could relax for a while, but they could not relax forever.
Who knew, if the Fallen Corpse Ancient God were to devour the Slaughter Ancient God and fully awaken, whether it might bring the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy forward ahead of schedule?
And so, everyone needed to be prepared with countermeasures going forward, in case this world underwent some tremendous upheaval.
…
Meanwhile, in the northern reaches of Dragon Country.
Ice and snow blanketed the earth, and winds howled across the sky.
A massive silhouette burst suddenly from the snow and ice, standing upright upon a frozen surface as hard as iron.
The Slaughter Ancient God had by now recovered a portion of his body, reverting once more into the great serpent bearing nine heads.
Though his body was somewhat smaller than before, and his aura had fallen sharply compared to his former peak, one could clearly sense that the Ancient God Power within him was rapidly replenishing itself, and with the aid of that Ancient God Power, his strength was pressing forward towards its peak, indeed growing stronger even than when he had fought Lu Fan.
After all, in their previous encounter, he had nearly been slain by Lu Fan. This brush with death had, quite inevitably, caused his power to leap upward by a considerable margin, reaching a truly terrifying level.
Even so, the Slaughter Ancient God felt not the slightest excitement at present, for standing before him was an enormous bronze coffin.
The bronze coffin was wound about with countless iron chains, the chains stretching outward and vanishing into the ice and snow below, with no telling what they were connected to.
Though the coffin was sealed shut at this moment, being an Ancient God, the Slaughter Ancient God could naturally sense the vast and overwhelming Ancient God Power contained within.
This overwhelming Ancient God Power made plain that the being within far surpassed him in strength, even now that he had recovered his power through Ancient God Power and reached a height unprecedented in this age.
Moreover, the Slaughter Ancient God was not unfamiliar with this coffin. He could even catch the scent of his own blood upon it.
In the previous era, he had perished beneath this very coffin, beaten into a paste of flesh and blood, so badly wounded that even healing his injuries had been nigh impossible.
This was the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s weapon, and at the same time, the cradle in which it slumbered in.
It was obvious who it was, there was no need to even guess.
“Even in this age, you remain so utterly devoted to that coffin of yours!” Though the Slaughter Ancient God knew full well he was no match for the Fallen Corpse Ancient God at present, and that having been brought here, he was most likely destined to become the other’s sustenance for raising its degree of awakening, he and the Fallen Corpse Ancient God were still old enemies. They had fought one another across countless eras.
And so, even facing death, he would not yield so much as a syllable.
Lose this era, and there would always be the next to win it back.
It was not as though he had never slain the Fallen Corpse Ancient God before.
From within the coffin, the Fallen Corpse Ancient God’s spiritual fluctuations arrived.
“Are you not exactly the same? Having fared so well, akin to the King of this era, you still maintain that hideous form of yours, and yet see no reason to change to a better body.”
The Slaughter Ancient God laughed coldly. “Hideous? What would you know of it!? This is the body most suited to combat, ensuring I can bring my full power to bear during the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy.”
“Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy?” The Fallen Corpse Ancient God laughed. “Do you truly believe you will be able to participate in the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy and prove that body of yours is the most suited to combat?”
“…” The Slaughter Ancient God was momentarily lost for words.
After a long silence, his scales bristled upward, presenting all the appearance of one prepared to fight the Fallen Corpse Ancient God to the bitter end.
“It seems you have no intention of giving me the chance to participate in the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy. But, do not think for a second you can so easily use me to raise your own degree of awakening. The scales upon my body are not mere decoration. If you wish to eat, you will end up with a mouthful of blood!”
