No sooner had they set foot within the forest than a surging tide of Bronze Monsters came charging at them all at once. It was an overwhelming flood of them, converging to encircle and slaughter the group.

Jian Ying and her two companions transformed into the Asura King and positioned themselves at the very front of the formation, withstanding the Bronze Monsters’ assault while swinging the two golden giant swords in their hands, launching continuous attacks against them.

The golden giant derived tremendous benefit from its sheer weight, and its intrinsic strength was extraordinary as well.

Each sword strike sent the Bronze Monsters flying in disarray, their bodies shattering apart.

At the same time, the Asura King had been granted the Sword Tamer’s Profession Characteristics by Jian Ying, who divided a portion of the gold from within its body to condense into nine flying swords of varying shapes.

These flying swords wheeled through the air without cease, attacking the Bronze Monsters on the ground incessantly, providing High Damage Output.

With just the three of them, Jian Ying and her companions, operating the Asura King, traversing this Bronze Forest posed absolutely no problem.

Yet the Bronze Monsters here were beyond counting. The moment the battle commenced, they unified their front, swarming in from every direction.

Moreover, the Asura King itself was fundamentally suited to Defence rather than Attack, so the Monsters continued to mass in ever greater numbers.

Surrounded by a horde of Monsters, Jian Ying and her companions sheltered within the Asura King’s body, found themselves in no immediate danger.

The real issue was that the group’s rate of advance had been severely impeded.

When they had first arrived and laid eyes on the Monsters, Tao Xiaoman had brimmed with confidence, declaring that she and the other two did not need any assistance from Lu Fan and the rest. They swore the three of them alone could carve a path forward.

But the Bronze Monsters had proved far more troublesome than any of them had anticipated. With all the Bronze Monsters presenting a unified front against these outsiders, Tao Xiaoman had no choice but to admit that relying on their own strength to find the Bronze Qilin would take an exceedingly long time.

Left with no alternative, Tao Xiaoman could only call out to the others from within the Asura King’s body. “No good. We surrender! We can handle these Bronze Monsters, but it’s taking far too long.”

“Sister Ye, Sister Han, Lu Fan, and Teacher Ouyang, can you please come and lend us a hand….”

Lu Fan stood behind the Asura King and said with a leisurely smile. “Oh, when you want our help, we should just help? When we first arrived, you said that you three together could find the Bronze Qilin within a single day and lead us straight to the heart of the Sacred Jiang Family. How is it that barely half a day has passed, and you’re already asking us for help?”

Jian Ying gave a wry smile from within the Asura King. “Lu Fan, please don’t tease us like this. In terms of strength, we still have a long way to go. We still need a ton more training. Xiao Man said what she said on purpose. We are just trying to seize an opportunity to train. It’s just that right now, I’m more worried that if we drag things out for too long, it’ll hold up our real objective.”

Lu Fan grinned. “It’s fine though. Just take your time fighting. I’m not worried about the objective….”

He was just about to tease the three of them further when he caught sight of a succession of beams of moonlight streaming downwards.

Some of that moonlight fell upon the Asura King, coating it in a silvery radiance that greatly amplified both its Defence and Attack.

Other beams fell upon the Bronze Monsters, transforming into red threads that bound them in place. Though it could not totally Immobilize them, any Bronze Monster wrapped in those red threads had its every Attribute drastically reduced: Speed, Defence, and Attack, all fell.

Lu Fan turned his head and saw that it was Han Ke. She was holding a Moon the size of a fist in her palm, swaying it gently. She rained down one Skill after another, helping Jian Ying and the others.

Noticing Lu Fan’s gaze, Han Ke gave him a reproachful look. “Lu Fan, stop teasing Xiao Ying and the others. Since the Monsters here are this strong, do something useful and properly help them.”

“All right, all right.” Lu Fan could never refuse Han Ke’s orders. He gave a sheepish smile, then extended his hand and Refined Undefiled fell into his grip.

Ye Wuxian, seeing that Lu Fan was joining the effort, broke into a smile of her own and went to equip Refined Ashless. She stepped forward ahead of the rest, flames igniting across her form, and charged off in one direction to cut through the enemy.

In an instant, fire blazed on all sides.

Ye Wuxian moved like a whirlwind of flame, scything through the midst of the Monsters, her body shifted between her Fire Element and Human Form in rapid succession.

With every strike, she shattered a Bronze Monster, reducing it to molten iron that flowed across the ground.

Han Ke’s Support alone had already substantially eased the pressure on the Asura King. Now that Ye Wuxian had joined the fray, personally holding off an entire flank of enemies, the Asura King now faced no troubles. They were further energised by Han Ke’s Support Skills. Naturally, the Asura King grew even more formidable with every exchange, advancing at a notably quickened pace.

Lu Fan watched the group working in such seamless coordination, reminiscent of their earlier sweep through the Tie Family Base, and felt a warm satisfaction swell within him. He had been on the verge of simply watching on without intervening at all.

But he soon noticed something: these Bronze Monsters were not as easy to deal with as they appeared to be.

The Bronze Monsters were being slain in succession, some even reduced to pools of molten iron.

Yet their intrinsic trait was very peculiar. After death, they broke apart into scattered bronze scrap across the ground. Once enough bronze debris accumulated nearby, any components that had not been wholly destroyed would reassemble, reconstituted into new Bronze Monsters.

The newly assembled Bronze Monsters bore different names from their predecessors, and their appearances were bizarre and irregular, taking on no fixed form.

Their Attributes, however, were in no way inferior to the originals. They were, if anything, potentially stronger.

The result was that though the group slew a hundred Monsters, the salvageable components of those hundred would soon reassemble into seventy new ones.

Add to that, the endless stream of other Bronze Monsters converging on their position, the scale of Bronze Monsters surrounding the group never seemed to diminish.

With the strength of the Asura King and Ye Wuxian alone, clearing so many Monsters would become increasingly difficult with time.

Nearby, Ouyang Bai Ge spoke up. “Seems like you’ve noticed it too. When the Monsters here die, they reassemble into new ones.”

Lu Fan gave a nod. “The way things look, I’ll need to join in as well. If we can’t accelerate the rate we’re clearing them, this will only get harder the further we go.”

“Indeed.” Ouyang Bai Ge crouched down and pressed her palm flat against the ground.

In an instant, a Space Rift appeared in the ground leading to the Void World, and a mass of purplish black insects, resembling ants, came spilling out and spreading across the earth. Each one was really small, but Lu Fan knew that these Void Insects would easily prove their worth before long.

“Not only do they reassemble after death,” Ouyang Bai Ge continued in an unhurried tone, “but the Bronze Trees here will also shed components, which then form new Bronze Monsters.”
