These monsters were remarkably similar to those Lu Fan had observed outside. They were all composed of purplish black fibres, with their outer skin forming tough carapaces. Some had condensed into sharp blades and fangs, as though they were specifically born for hunting.

Beyond these peculiar creatures, purple mist poured forth from the rift. The purple mist appeared to feed on Life Essence as nourishment. The Valley of Life was abundant with Life Essence, making it the finest sustenance for the purple mist.

Therefore, upon entering the Valley of Life, the purple mist began to proliferate madly like small insects, transforming in an instant into a purplish black tide that surged towards other areas of the Valley of Life.

Wherever the purple mist passed, all the plants and animals within the Valley of Life began to wither and decay. This tide of withering spread outward from the space rift as its centre, extending throughout the Valley of Life at tremendous speed.

It could be said that wherever the purple mist and the strange Monsters passed, the terrain would be completely transformed.

Such a fierce invasion naturally encountered resistance from the Rootless Dragons. Giant Dragons flew forth, deploying various Dragon Breaths to retaliate against these foreign invaders.

The strength of the Giant Dragons was indeed formidable. Although Lu Fan was merely witnessing memories, he still felt fear. Even he would be incapable of engaging in battle with these Adult Giant Dragons, as the disparity in strength was simply too great.

It must be understood that Giant Dragons in their Eternal Phase were existences comparable to Divine Beings.

The might of the Giant Dragons caused tremendous casualties amongst those strange creatures. However, those beings could not truly be called ‘living beings’ in the first place. Although the Giant Dragons’ Skills could scatter them, their physical forms would invariably transform into purplish black fibres, re-fusing to form even more powerful and troublesome Monsters.

Thus, countless Giant Dragons successively entered the fray, containing the purple mist and the Monsters within a certain area of the Valley of Life. They did this for a full three months.

During those three months, the Giant Dragons fought continuously without respite. The tremendous power of their Dragon Bodies, specifically evolved for combat, was displayed to its fullest extent.

However, Giant Dragons were ultimately living beings, while their opponents were not. Moreover, the purple mist continued to devour the Life Essence within the Valley of Life, strengthening the power of the Monsters on their side.

The Rootless Dragons, conversely, lacked sufficient Life Essence to sustain themselves. Therefore, if they could not eliminate their opponents, engaging in a prolonged war, it would inevitably disadvantage the Giant Dragons.

Consequently, casualties began to appear amongst the Giant Dragons. With the emergence of casualties, the previously deadlocked situation changed dramatically.

This was because the carcasses of Giant Dragons also became the finest nourishment for the purple mist. Almost immediately upon a Dragon’s death, the purple mist would swarm forth, corrupting the Dragon’s resilient body into putrid mud, then causing it to rise again as a Monster on their side, and join the battlefield.

Although these Dragon Carcasses possessed combat power far inferior to genuine Giant Dragons, this constant erosion of strength proved devastating.

The tide of battle was completely reversed over the following week. Dragon casualties mounted, and the territory it occupied within the Valley of Life expanded ever wider.

Ultimately, the Giant Dragons retreated steadily until they reached the deepest part of the Valley of Life. By this point, fewer than ten Rootless Dragons remained.

The deepest part of the Valley of Life was precisely where the Life Dragon King – Root of Everything had taken root. This invasion had contaminated the nutrients absorbed by her roots, leaving her in a poor state.

At present, the Life Dragon King possessed virtually no Combat Power to speak of, with fewer than ten Rootless Dragons remaining nearby.

Conversely, their opponents had occupied virtually the entire Valley of Life. Countless Dragon Carcasses had become Monsters of their bidding, stretching beyond the horizon.

This battle was undoubtedly a crushing defeat for the Giant Dragons of the Valley of Life.

Just as those Monsters and purple mist were about to engulf the final sanctuary of the Valley of Life, assimilating even the Life Dragon King, one Rootless Dragon stepped forward.

This was a Giant Dragon whose entire body resembled crystals. Lu Fan could not identify its exact Dragon Species. However, Lu Fan had observed it acting several times during combat, revealing it to be a Dragon Specialised in Defence and Support.

This Crystal Dragon soared into the air, its body expanding to become an enormous crystal that completely enveloped the Life Dragon King and all surviving Rootless Dragons, before promptly vanishing.

Lu Fan surmised this must be a Skill similar to Dragon Domain, capable of transporting its enveloped allies into another space. It was precisely because of this Skill that the Rootless Dragons managed to continue on, ensuring the Life Dragon King would not perish.

However, this Skill required enormous Life Force to sustain. The Crystal Dragon soon could no longer maintain it, completely transforming into this fortress to protect the other Dragons.

The Life Dragon King then took up the mantle, infusing the Crystal Barrier with her own Life Force to sustain its operation.

Nevertheless, remaining here indefinitely was not a viable solution. The Life Dragon King needed to absorb nutrients, yet here, her Life Force could not be replenished while she continuously expended it.

    Collapse was inevitable.

Therefore, several of the remaining Rootless Dragons departed, seeking to leave the Valley of Life for other regions of the Dragon Domain to seek assistance in resolving the crisis.

Unfortunately, though one departed after another, none were able to return. Only these four Giant Dragons now remained.

Finally, Lu Fan understood the circumstances behind the changes in the Valley of Life.

His consciousness returned to his own body.

That branch slowly withdrew, and the Life Dragon King’s voice once again resonated in his mind. “Now you understand why the Valley of Life has become like this. This Crystal Barrier not only isolates us from the perception and invasion of those vile things but also allows us to observe what transpires within the Valley of Life. Your appearance here is because my Children mistook you for reinforcements, correct?”

The Flame Dragon nodded, acknowledging that it had indeed mistaken Lu Fan for reinforcements.

The Life Dragon King sighed, looking towards Ye Sha. “Poor child, to think you are actually a Dragon King as well. If you could mature, the Dragon Domain would surely gain another Top Tier powerhouse in the future. What a pity. Having come here, you will likely struggle to escape with your life.”
