The Void Insect made an abrupt, deep leap and arrived atop Yei Xiu’s head. It raised two of its limbs, and from their forwardmost segments, two sharp, bone-like spines emerged. Then, they drove themselves savagely into Yei Xiu’s skull.

 

The sight of this sent a chill through every member of the Situ Family looking on.

 

The creature was simply too grotesque, and no one knew what Effects would be brought about by being pierced by those limbs.

 

Yei Xiu let out a cry of pain. It was harrowing and wretched, as though he were enduring the greatest of agony. Yet that cry quickly faded and subsided. His eyes gradually rolled upward, leaving only visible whites, and then he went entirely still, like a man who had died.

 

Lu Fan was confused. He looked towards Ouyang Bai Ge. “Senior, what happens next?”

 

Ouyang Bai Ge smiled and waved her hand. “Go ahead and pull your spear out. My Void Insect has him under control now. If we have anything to ask him, we can question him directly. No need to worry about him running.”

 

Lu Fan was at once both astonished and delighted. “Your Void Insects have that capability?”

 

Ouyang Bai Ge smiled and replied, “Of course. Within my Void World, there are many Void Insects. They may not excel in combat, but each possesses irreplaceable abilities of its own. But, the moment it is able to drive its body into the flesh of a target, it can seize control of that target’s mind and bend them to its will. Within a certain region of the Void World, they have even taken control of the most powerful Void Insects and turned them into puppets, using them to lord over that territory. It is precisely because they are so formidable in this regard that I chose to cultivate them.”

 

“Amazing…” Lu Fan nodded, thinking that Ouyang Bai Ge’s Ancient God Power was something to behold as well, able to cultivate so many diverse Void Insects within her Void World. In future battles against their enemies, who could say what strange things she might produce.

Yei Xiu’s body did not move, but the mouth on the spider’s abdomen sitting atop his head opened, and from it came Yei Xiu’s own voice. “That is correct. The Sacred Jiang Family answers to the Slaughter Ancient God, revering him as its God.”

 

This deeply peculiar sight left everyone present, Lu Fan included, astonished beyond words.

 

Ouyang Bai Ge continued, “Then where is your Sacred Jiang Family located?”

 

The Spiritual Tapeworm atop Yei Xiu’s head replied, “The location is not fixed. It is concealed within the body of a Monster known as the Bronze Qilin. The Bronze Qilin can be found in the Western Border region, within a fifty kilometre radius of coordinates 52824, 28724.”

 

“Members of our Sacred Jiang Family possess a Special Skill that allows them to locate the Bronze Qilin. Outsiders, however, have no means of knowing its position and can only search for it slowly.”

 

“So that is how it is…” Situ Hengxing murmured from the side, understanding dawning. “No wonder the other Sacred Lands have been searching for the Sacred Jiang Family for so long and come up empty-handed.
