Chapter 1167, Who Is in the Wrong?
by SilavinTranslator: Silavin
“Void Ancient God!” The Slaughter Ancient God snarled, fighting Lu Fan while simultaneously enduring Ouyang Bai Ge’s assault, and a flicker of irritation crossed his features.
It was clear that Ouyang Bai Ge’s Void Insects were an exceptionally bothersome existence for him.
The Slaughter Ancient God was enormous in stature, and these fist-sized Void Insects were, from his perspective, absurdly tiny.
It was certainly the case where size does not equate to holding the advantage.
When a Void Insect was small enough, even the Slaughter Ancient God would find it difficult to eliminate every last one of them in a single sweep.
Even when he unleashed his Skills and mowed down great swathes of Void Insects, there were always a few that slipped through the gaps in his attack range, landing on his body and Dealing Damage.
Granted, the Damage these Void Insects inflicted upon the Slaughter Ancient God was not especially high, but bit by bit, it accumulated. Even the Slaughter Ancient God could not endure being gnawed at continuously like this.
Even if there was no genuine threat to his life, it would at the very least drive him into a state of maddening agitation.
“In the last era, I should have stripped your Divine Seat from you, you half-baked Ancient God. I should have found someone random to become the new Void Ancient God!” The Slaughter Ancient God roared without ceasing as he fought. “I could tell long ago that you are fundamentally unsuited to be an Ancient God.”
“Unless one is like us, having been an Ancient God from the very beginning, people like you, who only became Ancient Gods partway through, have no understanding whatsoever of what it means to be an Ancient God, much less how to conduct yourselves as one!”
“Perhaps that is so,” Ouyang Bai Ge replied, continuing to strike in rapid succession, opening one Void World after another and releasing the Void Insects she had painstakingly cultivated, while responding to the Slaughter Ancient God.
“Perhaps we are not particularly fitting as Ancient Gods. Perhaps we do not understand the significance of an Ancient God’s existence. Perhaps your idea is correct, that this world ought to be wiped clean, so as to prevent the emergence of existences that even the Ancient Gods cannot control.”
“Yet in the end, we are not Ancient Gods. We have not lost ourselves within the power that makes us Ancient Gods. I still remember, several eras ago, I was still Human, one of the existences that you Ancient Gods regard as no more than ants. I had my own friends, my own Family, my own feelings and emotions. These things were all created by you Ancient Gods. Why, then, would you so casually erase all of these things?”
“Without our consent, you created our world. And then, again without our consent, you seek to strip away everything that we have. I acknowledge that you have the right to strip away everything. But we also have the right to fight to preserve everything!”
“Time and again you say that erasing every existence of an era is meant to sever all possible futures of that era, so as to prevent the emergence of existences you cannot control. But regardless of what existence it may be, did it not come into being through your own hands?”
“In the end, who is in the wrong, you Ancient Gods or the living beings of this world? But, there is little meaning in me debating this with you. As an Ancient God, you seek to erase us, and this is perfectly reasonable. We, as living beings, or perhaps as those who were once living beings, seek to resist you and master our own fates. This is an equally reasonable pursuit!”
By the time Ouyang Bai Ge finished speaking, she had already carved open thirteen Void Rifts.
Thirteen varieties of Void Insect poured out through them. The largest were like mountains, clad in hard armour all over, their defensive capability appearing to be not much less than Lu Fan.
The smallest were barely the size of a fingernail, their entire bodies shimmering with seven-coloured radiance.
These smaller Void Insects appeared harmless to people and beasts alike, but the moment they flew onto the Slaughter Ancient God’s body, they would Self-Destruct, detonating with astonishing force.
Even the Slaughter Ancient God was sent stumbling backwards repeatedly by the blasts of these Void Insects.
All the Void Insects clearly countered the Slaughter Ancient God. They had evidently been cultivated by Ouyang Bai Ge specifically to deal with him.
One could well imagine that Ouyang Bai Ge, having awakened so early as an Ancient God, must have been quietly laying out her plans all along, preparing Void Insects suited to counter each of the other 35 Ancient Gods.
Lu Fan even suspected that if he were ever to cross blades with Ouyang Bai Ge, she would likely be able to produce Void Insects specifically designed to counter the Abyssal Space as well.
Cultivating Void Insects capable of locating and gnawing through Abyssal Nodes should not be that difficult for Ouyang Bai Ge.
It was simply that Lu Fan’s strength did not rest solely in possessing the Abyssal Space and the ability to summon his own Projections without limit.
Him being a Dragon Tamer was the foundation of his power.
Lu Fan was still confident that, if Ouyang Bai Ge were ever to turn against him, he did in fact possess the ability to suppress her, an Ancient God, in her own right.
Though he trusted Ouyang Bai Ge, a little caution never did any harm.
With Ouyang Bai Ge’s dozen-odd varieties of Void Insects out in force, they truly managed to restrain the Slaughter Ancient God to some degree.
Previously, in a direct frontal clash with the Slaughter Ancient God, Lu Fan was at a disadvantage even in terms of Attributes.
If the Slaughter Ancient God had been free to go all-out without a single care, engaging Lu Fan without restraint, he would inevitably have been beaten.
It was only by releasing all of his Pet Dragons to help him share the pressure that he would have had any chance of holding his own against the Slaughter Ancient God.
But now, with the pressure on him suddenly greatly reduced, Lu Fan also released his Pet Dragons and brought them into the battle.
With both his own presence and the disruption of the Void Insects to screen them, the Pet Dragons could focus on dealing Damage Output without facing too much danger.
The Slaughter Ancient God’s capacity for Self-Healing was already showing its mighty effects at this early stage in battle. The wounds inflicted upon him by their collective assault were recovering swiftly even as more were made. His Self-Healing far exceeded that of Yei Xiu by a tremendous margin.
But Lu Fan was confident: as long as they could keep the Slaughter Ancient God firmly suppressed, a way to kill him would eventually present itself.
After all, no matter how boundless an Ancient God’s power might be, it would ultimately exhaust itself one day.
He simply refused to believe that this Slaughter Ancient God was some indestructible, undying existence!
The battle raged on without pause.
At last, through the collective efforts of the group, some genuine results were achieved.
Xiao Cui attached herself to Ye Sha’s body, augmenting his combat strength.
And Ye Sha, capitalising on his exceptional Armour Piercing, seized upon a fleeting moment when the Slaughter Ancient God’s guard slipped, used Shadow Flash, and sliced one of his heads clean off!
The massive head crashed to the ground, yet even then that head had not lost consciousness.
*Boom!*
The Slaughter Ancient God roared, and that severed head attempted to fly back up to the wound and reattach itself.
Naturally, Lu Fan and the others were not about to give him that opportunity.
Lu Fan, still in his Golden Dragon King Form, stepped directly down onto the severed head, pinning it in place.
At the same time, Ouyang Bai Ge’s Void Insects swarmed over rapidly, burrowing through the wound and into the head, and began to devour its flesh and blood from within.
